ANTON ANDERSSON IN HIS OWN WORDS
Color and form have always fascinated me and driven me to create. As a child, I could sit and draw for hours on end; when it came time to choose a high school, the choice was obvious—the arts program with a focus on visual arts. After that, I went to art school in Kristianstad.
When I was little, my subjects were mostly animals and birds, but during my late teens I experimented more and more with different styles, eventually landing on something I can probably best describe as abstract expressionism.
Nowadays, I have returned to painting landscapes and animals. Water is also a recurring theme. Preferably tropical water. The tropical turquoise sea fascinates me. I love sun and swimming, so sometimes it's probably a form of therapy too. In the middle of the Swedish winter, to be able to sit for a few hours in front of the canvas and paint a sun-drenched, foaming wave, trying to figure out how to depict the taste of the salt spray and the sound of the foam sizzling after the wave.
